Netflix has renewed hit political thriller The Diplomat for a fourth season.
Created by Debora Cahn, The Diplomat follows newly appointed US ambassador for the UK Kate Wyler (Keri Russell) as she juggles her new responsibilities as well as her deteriorating marriage to fellow career diplomat Hal Wyler (Rufus Sewell).
The explosive second season ended with the revelation that Vice President Grace Penn (Allison Janney) orchestrated a terrorist attack on a British warship to shake Scotland's independence movement, with Grace becoming the new president following President William Rayburn's (Michael McKean) death.
Season three is set to begin this autumn, and ahead of its launch, it has been confirmed that a fourth season is coming to the streaming giant.
Other shows renewed by Netflix in its latest announcement include Bridgerton for seasons five and six, Love on the Spectrum for season four, Million Dollar Secret for season two, and My Life with the Walter Boys for season three.

Russell, Sewell, and Janney will reprise their roles in The Diplomat in season three, joined by Bradley Whitford, who will play the Vice President's husband Todd Penn.
A synopsis for the upcoming season reads: "Kate has just accused Vice President Grace Penn of hatching a terrorist plot and admitted she’s after the VP’s job. But now the president is dead, Kate’s husband Hal may have inadvertently killed him, and Grace Penn is leader of the free world.

"None of this slows Hal’s campaign to land Kate the vice presidency. Kate steps into a role she never wanted, with a freedom she never expected, an increasingly complicated friendship with Foreign Secretary Austin Dennison (David Gyasi), and an unnerving bond with First Gentleman Todd Penn."
Teasing what fans can expect from the episodes, Cahn told Tudum that "season 3 flips the chessboard".
"In season 3, Kate lives the particular nightmare that is getting what you want," she added.
It has proved a hit with fans, described as "extraordinary" and "addictive" with many IMDb users begging for more episodes.
