Fresh from the second season of Rivals, Bella Maclean will front a brand-new drama from Netflix. Titled A Matter of Time, the upcoming film will also star Ben Stiller and Nicholas Galitzine as well as a Taskmaster favourite.

The film centres on an angel, who is sent from heaven to convince a reclusive man to give up his life for the good of humanity. The man initially agrees, though he soon gets a new lease of life in the form of an unlikely romance as his death approaches.

After being announced in May (via Tudum), filming has now commenced on the project, with Maclean being spotted at a pub in London. In another first-look photo, we can also see Emma Sidi, who joined the cast last week.

The actor and comedian, who appeared in the 18th season of Taskmaster back in 2024, was announced alongside The Last Kingdom's Amy Wren and The Marvels star Cecily Cleeve, though details regarding who the trio will play remain undisclosed (via What's on Netflix).

The highly-anticipated drama is being directed by Harry Bradbeer, who helmed the first two instalments in the Enola Holmes franchise as well as episodes of Fleabag, Killing Eve, Dickensian and Spider-Noir.

What to Read Next

The screenplay is penned by Justin Haythe, Madeleine George, Peter Byrne and Simon Beaufoy, with the former being known for Revolutionary Road. Beaufoy, meanwhile, wrote The Full Monty, and also worked with Danny Boyle on Slumdog Millionaire and 127 Hours.

Maclean, meanwhile, will reprise her role as Agatha "Taggie" O'Hara when Rivals returns in November with the second volume of its second season, which comes after a jaw-dropping cliffhanger involving one popular character.

The period comedy-drama, which is based on Jilly Cooper's Rutshire Chronicles, had its future secured last month, with Disney+ confirming that the popular series had been renewed for a third season.

"New romances blossom, old flames rekindle and shocking secrets will be spilled in this third series, which takes everyone's favourite rivalries to the next level. In a world of power, passion and betrayal, everyone has something to lose."

A Matter of Time has no release date yet, while Rivals streams on Disney+.
