A suspenseful new Nordic crime drama where "secrets and conflicts are simmering" has dropped to binge on Netflix.

Danish series Secrets We Keep follows the disappearance of an au pair in a wealthy Copenhagen neighbourhood, with the investigation exposing deeper secrets.

All six episodes of the show are available to stream on Netflix as of today – so if you're looking for your next gripping watch, look no further.

Secrets We Keep comes from creator Ingeborg Topsøe (Wildland) and director Per Fly (Borgen), and features stars Marie Bach Hansen, Danica Curcic, Simon Sears, Lars Ranthe and Sara Fanta Traore.

The series centres on the disappearance of a Filipino au pair called Ruby, with neighbour Cecilie convinced that something more sinister is afoot, and alongside her own au pair Angel, they begin to investigate what's going on as rumours circulate and suspicions grow.

"However, the case of the missing foreigner is a low priority for the police, and the newly minted investigator Aicha needs all the assistance she can get," the synopsis adds.

"Cecilie and Angel are ready to help, and gradually the power structures and privileges within the beautiful homes start to expose. Yet, Cecilie's commitment to uncovering the truth is put to the test when Ruby's disappearance reveals connections reaching into Cecilie's own family."

She is then "forced to confront her blind spots" and look at "her family and the environment in which she is raising her children in a whole new light".

Speaking about the series, Fly teased: "Beneath the polished surface, secrets and conflicts are simmering. I was curious to explore what happens when the façade begins to crack – and the human truths emerge."

Topsøe added: "I enjoy experimenting with the genre because it requires the audience’s full attention, and placing a crime story in this particular setting is especially compelling.

"What happens when care and intimacy within the home are outsourced to an au pair? What does that stir in us - and in those closest to us? Does it reveal the best in us, or the worst?"

Secrets We Keep is available now to stream on Netflix.
