Sirens, the new Netflix drama starring Meghann Fahy and Milly Alcock, has released its eerie first trailer.

The dark comedy, a five-part limited series, follows Devon DeWitt (Fahy) as she is invited to Cliff House, a vast estate owned by billionaire couple Peter (Kevin Bacon) and Michaela 'Kiki' Kell (Julianne Moore), the latter of whom is the boss of Devon's sister Simone (Alcock)

Joined by the similarly affluent Ethan Corbin II (Glenn Howerton), Simone and the fellow residents feel as if Cliff House is heaven on Earth. Devon, however, isn't wowed by the obscene display of wealth, and suspects something sinister may be going on with Kiki.

"As Devon takes in Simone’s preppy new look and the increasingly suspicious goings-on at Cliff House, she starts to doubt Simone and Michaela’s story and looks into what’s happening beneath all the polished surfaces," teases the synopsis (via Tudum).

Ahead of the series' release on 22 May, Netflix has unveiled the first trailer, depicting the growing conflict between Devon and Simone as they are respectively appalled and enthralled by the Kells.

Sirens has been created by Molly Smith Metzler, who has adapted her 2011 play Elemeno Pea. The recurring cast includes Josh Segarra, Lauren Weedman and Bill Camp, with the latter playing Devon and Simone's father.

Fahy, who has also starred in The White Lotus, The Perfect Couple and Drop, teased aspects of Sirens as she described it as "a show about relationships and the way people desperately try to outrun their past."

"We watch Simone run desperately away from who she is and who she really wants to be seen as," she continued. "Devon becomes embarrassed. Simone starts calling out all of Devon’s bad habits, bad relationships, and the way that she mistreats herself."

"Michaela and Simone are friends. They’re trauma-bonded. They’re co-dependent," added Metzler, who won acclaim for her work on Maid. "But they also really need something from each other. And what they need from each other shifts throughout the show."

Sirens premieres on Netflix on 22 May.
