Netflix has cancelled popular action series The Recruit after two seasons, leaving fans less than thrilled.
The show, which follows a CIA lawyer (Noah Centineo), recently debuted its second season, which attracted a high 92% fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes.
However, it appears this wasn't enough to save it, with Variety confirming that the streamer has decided to axe the series.

"I’ll share some pics and fun memories on Instagram but just wanted you to hear it from me. Thanks if you watched. I’m AVAILABLE NOW! Hire me for your tv story!!"

He then wrote in reference to the popular Community line: "Is two seasons and a movie a thing? Cause we'd all be there in a heartbeat. If not, man, we left it all on the field.
"For those who haven't yet watched, dive in. I swear to God you'll enjoy the ride. In an age of shows that feel like homework, The Recruit is a blast that has stakes and humor and hardcore action which will keep you leaning forward."
He then added: "Finally, to the cast and crew, thank you for giving the best of yourselves to this special show. I'm a better person for having spent time with you."
Fans have shared their disappointment at the news, one posting: "F**K. And season 2 of the recruit was so much better than 1. UGH we could’ve been going places, I’m MAD @netflix take it back."

"Actually very upset they cancelled The Recruit on Netflix boo @netflix," a second echoed, while a third added: "It is very disappointing to hear @netflix cancelling The Recruit after 2 seasons. I was worried earlier this year when it was released in the same time window as Night Agent, I guess suspicion confirmed."
"Bad decision not to renew The Recruit for a 3rd season @Netflix this show and [its] actors are fabulous," another said.
Before the news was announced, Hawley addressed a potential third season just last month, saying that he had "a few thoughts", including bringing back season 2 addition Teo Yoo (Past Lives) as Jang Kyu.
The Recruit seasons 1 and 2 are both available to stream on Netflix.
