The Recruit showrunner has teased what could be in store for season 3.

The Netflix series follows Noah Centineo as Owen Hendricks, a new lawyer who works for the CIA and gets involved in all sorts of spy shenanigans. The recently-released season 2 saw the action movie to South Korea, with Past Lives' Teo Yoo joining the cast as agent Jang Kyu.

Speaking to TVLine about the future of the show, showrunner Alexi Hawley said that "I have a few thoughts."

He didn't go into specifics, but did say that, following on from the events of the season 2 finale, he's keen to bring Yoo back.

He did add the caveat that it wouldn't be "necessarily as a regular" but stressed that "he’s definitely someone I want in our arsenal.”

Another breakout that's more likely to return is Maddie Hasson's loose cannon Nichka, as Hawley stated that: "There's definitely a world where we could see Nichka again.

"I always try to do the unexpected, but unexpectedness is harder to do in this day and age where audiences are smart because they watch so much stuff. Having wild cards out there is super fun because you never know. Maybe they'll come back, maybe they won’t."

And as for main character Owen, Hawley stated that his long-term goal is to get back with his ex Hannah Copeland, and emphasises the long-term aspect.

"To get Hannah back in any way, shape or form, Owen would really have to prove that he’s a different person, and I don't know that he's enough of a different person to get there yet,” the showrunner said.

The Recruit seasons 1 and 2 are both available to stream on Netflix.
