Nine new stars have signed on to Netflix's adaptation of Vladimir, an eight-part thriller led by Leo Woodall and Rachel Weisz.

Based on Julia May Jonas's novel – described as "terrifically entertaining" by the New York Times – the upcoming series boasts a stacked cast, with John Slattery, Jessica Henwick, and Ellen Robertson slated to play John, Cynthia, and Sid, respectively (via Variety).

Rounding out the cast, fans can also expect to see Kayli Carter, Miriam Silverman, Mallori Johnson, Matt Walsh, Tattiawna Jones and Louise Lambert in recurring roles.

Jonas, who published her critically acclaimed novel in 2022, is adapting Vladimir for the screen, and she is also billed as an executive producer, alongside Weisz.

In the book, an English professor finds herself at the centre of a scandal when her husband, a fellow professor at the same liberal arts college, is hit with accusations from several former students.

At the same time, the narrator develops a fixation of her own after Vladimir, a married young novelist, arrives on campus.

"I feel very lucky and incredibly excited for Merman to bring Vladimir to life alongside [production company] Small Dog. Getting to partner with Netflix and have Rachel attached is a thrill, and a testament to the brilliance of the scripts."

Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini, the award-winning duo credited with directing episodes of Fleishman Is in Trouble and The Four Seasons, are signed on to direct three episodes of Vladimir including the pilot, and they will also serve as executive producers.

Netflix's Vladimir is yet to receive a release date.
