Years and Years, the BBC limited series that has been lauded as a “breathtaking tour de force”, is available on Netflix.
The sci-fi drama, written and created by Doctor Who’s Russell T Davies, is set in a dystopian version of Manchester between 2019 and 2034, following the lives of the Lyons family as Britain is rocked by “political upheaval, economic instability and technological advances.”
Boasting a stacked cast including Rory Kinnear, Russell Tovey, Jessica Hynes and Emma Thompson, fans - or first time viewers - of the series can now view Davies’s dystopian vision of Britain once more after all six episodes were added onto Netflix.
Upon the show’s release back in 2019, we at Digital Spy called the series a “breathtaking tour de force of television”, adding that the “end result is a wild kaleidoscope of a show” that is “stunning but also rather dizzying.”
Years and Years was similarly praised by other outlets as it boasts an impressive approval rating of 89% on Rotten Tomatoes from 65 reviews, with the site’s critical consensus noting the show’s balance of “scathing critique” and “buoyant humour”.

“This pacing is the first thing that contributes towards the tension; there are few if any scenes in which an awful event or its consequences are not being felt. You don't get much time to relax.”
The Atlantic
“The anxious thrill of watching Years and Years comes not only from seeing the future unfurl in front of you, but also from watching how it ripples through the lives of this very modern, delightfully fractious family.”
