Doctor Who boss Russell T Davies has confirmed Mrs Flood will appear "every week" in the new season.
The mysterious character, played by Anita Dobson, first arrived on screen in the 2023 Christmas special, where she was introduced as Ruby Sunday's (Millie Gibson) curious neighbour.
However, it was revealed that there was more to Mrs Flood than meets the eye when she recognised the Doctor's TARDIS at the end of the episode. In later appearances, she also seemed familiar with villain Sutekh.
Dobson previously said that her character's true identity would soon be revealed and showrunner Davies has now confirmed that Mrs Flood will be "popping up every week" before a big reveal in the finale.
"Last year, we had Susan Triad popping up every week, but she had no idea who she was," Davies said at the launch of the upcoming season, (via RadioTimes).

"This is the complete opposite – this is someone who clearly knows very much [who she is]... she kind of unveiled herself at the end of the last series, standing on a rooftop, with a parasol, in a white fur coat, in the snow, saying 'I'm going to bring absolute terror!' – so the gloves are off, really!"
He added that Dobson as Flood gets "an awful lot more to do" in the new episodes, saying: "You'll see that as it develops."

The upcoming instalment will introduce the Doctor's latest companion Belinda Chandra (Varada Sethu); with Ruby, Kate Lethbridge-Stewart (Jemma Redgrave) and Melanie Bush (Bonnie Langford) all making a return.
The eight-episode season will also feature other guest stars, including House of the Dragon's Freddie Fox, Slow Horses actor Christopher Chung and EastEnders' Rose Ayling-Ellis.
Meanwhile, Davies reiterated that he is still waiting on an answer as to the show's future after the next season, adding that he "hope[s] it comes back".
Doctor Who will return on April 12 on BBC One and iPlayer in the UK and Disney+ elsewhere. Classic episodes of Doctor Who are available on BBC iPlayer in the UK.
