BBC One's crime thriller The Capture first aired back in 2019, and it's just been made available to stream on Netflix.

The cast includes Happy Valley's Charlie Murphy, Gangs of London's Paapa Essiedu, Strike's Holliday Grainger, Masters of the Air's Callum Turner, Doctor Who's Indira Varma and The Recruit's Laura Haddock.

The Capture centres on former soldier Lance Corporal Shaun Emery (Turner) who had a war crime conviction overturned, only to later find himself accused and arrested over other alleged crimes – for which there appears to be CCTV evidence.

The first episode went down well with viewers at the time, with many comparing it to Jed Mercurio's twisty and popular series Bodyguard (which starred Keeley Hawes and Richard Madden).

The Capture boasts a near-perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes, sitting at a respectable 96% (based on reviews from critics) as of time of writing.

Back in July 2023, series writer and director Ben Chanan said he couldn't "confirm or deny" a return for the show (via RadioTimes.com).

Paapa Essiedu was then quizzed about whether or not he might be on board for a possible return of The Capture, during an interview with Radio Times back in November 2023.

"Ben Chanan, who writes the series, I know it's a story that's very close to his heart, but I actually don't remember about the future of it," the actor said. "But I loved working with him and I thought those scripts were amazing."

"I thought that character was so interesting and he lands in quite an interesting place by the end of that series," Essiedu continued. "So who knows what the future holds for him?"

With the drama now on Netflix, we could be about to see an increased interest in a third season...
