Netflix has unveiled a teaser trailer for its "monstrous" remake of Mary Shelley's classic novel.

Written and directed by Guillermo del Toro, the upcoming Frankenstein movie stars Oscar Isaac as egotistical scientist Victor Frankenstein, whose eccentric experiment wreaks havoc on the world.

In a bid to create life through reanimation, Victor brings a hideous creature into existence but his rejection of his creation leads to disastrous consequences.

Ahead of its Netflix release this November, the streaming service has shared a look at the sci-fi horror with a dramatic teaser video.

The clip, posted on YouTube, is narrated by a remorseful Victor as he relays the horrific events, which the synopsis describes as "a monstrous experiment that ultimately leads to the undoing of both the creator and his tragic creation".

"I had determined that the memory of my evils should die with me," Victor begins, ominously. "Some of what I tell you is fact. Some is not. But it is all true."

The trailer features shots of Victor's crazy endeavour, as he assembles his monster from stolen body parts of the dead. He later plays god by bringing his creation to life through electricity.

"I had a vision. An idea took shape in my mind. Inevitable. Unavoidable. Until it became truthful," he explains. "In seeking life, I created death".

Following a terrifying roar, viewers are given a glimpse at Jacob Elordi as the monster - albeit fully covered in a tatty robe. The monster's unyielding strength is displayed as he easily fights off an army villagers, before angrily shouting Victor's name.

The trailer also sees Mia Goth as Frankenstein's love interest Elizabeth Lavenza. She will star alongside an ensemble cast featuring Felix Kammerer, Lars Mikkelsen, Charles Dance, Christoph Waltz and David Bradley.

Frankenstein is released on Netflix in November 2025.
