Mia Goth hasn't just starred in the X trilogy, she's also taken on different roles behind the scenes, resulting in a career first on MaXXXine.
After co-writing prequel movie Pearl (which she also executive produced), she became a producer on MaXXXine. It marked the first time she had taken on the role in her career, but don't expect it to be the last time.
Talking to Digital Spy, Goth explained that being a producer gave her more "confidence" compared to the previous two outings.
"There's something to knowing you have a voice on the movie set and you have a little more agency. It just helps with confidence overall, and it's definitely something I want to continue with moving forward," she reflected.

MaXXXine was officially announced at the world premiere of Pearl with a post-credit teaser, taking fans by surprise.

As it turns out, Goth was equally as surprised as Ti West handed her the script for the third movie on the way to Pearl's premiere.
"I didn't know where Ti was going to take it. He really didn't share much with me except he had this idea of making the third movie and turning this into a trilogy," she recalled.
"I was incredibly curious and the delivery of the script, we were landing in Venice to premiere Pearl and he hands me this script, it was a really magical moment."

It meant that having filmed X and Pearl back-to-back, Goth had to prepare for reprising her role as Maxine Minx after playing Pearl. She credited the costume fitting and the "incredible" and "extraordinary" costume designer Mari-An Cero for getting her back into the Maxine mindset.
"I didn't really know who Maxine was going to be until we started putting on these outfits," Goth explained.
"We tried on that denim number, the costume she's in at the very beginning of the movie, and that to me just perfectly encapsulates who Maxine is. Once I was in that, it all became clear to me."
Whether or not MaXXXine is the last time that Goth plays in this world remains to be seen, but she isn't ruling it out.
MaXXXine is released in cinemas on July 5.
