Wayward, the new Netflix thriller from Taskmaster star Mae Martin, has confirmed its release date.
The series, which was originally called Tall Pines, is set in a "bucolic" yet "sinister town", with the thriller said to depict the "insidious underbelly of the troubled teen industry" and the "eternal struggle" between various generations (via About Netflix).
Following the release of a beguiling teaser trailer, Netflix has confirmed that audiences won't have to wait long for the drama to unfold, with all eight instalments set to be released on the streamer at the same time on 25 September.
Martin, who serves as a showrunner alongside Ryan Scott, assumes the lead role of police officer Alex Dempsey, with the actor being joined by Toni Collette, Brandon Jay McLaren, Sarah Gadon and Patrick J Adams in the cast.
Martin, who triumphed in the 15th season of Taskmaster, described Wayward as an "insane rollercoaster" that was "so different to anything" they had made in their career, adding that it was a story that they had been "dying to tell".

Speaking more recently to Tudum, Martin explained that they wanted to capture the feeling of "adolescence" with their latest work, explaining: "I often talk around adolescence or I write characters who are processing their teens - it was such an intense time for me.
"I've always known I wanted to more directly dive into that time and all the visceral feelings of adolescence. I was a wayward teen in the early 2000s, and my best friend was sent to one of these troubled teen institutes… she came back and had just the craziest stories about it."

"In the picture-perfect town of Tall Pines, sinister secrets lurk behind every closed door," reads the logline, which teases a "thrilling" and "genre-bending" tale as officer Dempsey investigates a slew of "unusual" incidents involving principal Evelyn Wade (Collette).
At the centre of the investigation are Abbie (Sydney Topliffe) and Leila (Alyvia Alyn Lind), two students from the troubled teen school who are desperate to escape. With horrifying stories, could the "rotten" secrets present in the town be unearthed?
Wayward will premiere on Netflix on 25 September.
