Channel 5 has confirmed that Yorkshire-set period drama The Hardacres will return, while teasing plenty of "unexpected twists" in season two.

Following the success of season one, which debuted in October 2024, the broadcaster has confirmed that Playground, the award-winning production company behind All Creatures Great and Small, will executive-produce the series.

Slated to consist of six hour-long episodes, a brief synopsis for season two has been released.

It explains: "Following the smash-hit first series, which followed the Hardacre family as they navigated their rise from poverty to staggering wealth and the unexpected twists and turns that money brought, the new season charts the Hardacres as they settle into Hardacre Hall and turn their attention to reshaping the world around them… with all the ambition, friction, and fallout that entails."

Currently, details surrounding the cast are limited, however, season one stars Julie Graham, Liam McMahon, Claire Cooper, Adam Little, Shannon LaVelle and Zak Ford-Williams are expected to reprise their roles as members of the Hardacre family.

Likewise, Channel 5 has confirmed that The Madame Blanc Mysteries, starring Sally Lindsay, will air its first-ever feature-length Christmas special this year. Taking to Instagram, Lindsay has shared photos from the set and noted that she's already "thrilled with the results".

Alongside the roster of returning shows, Channel 5 has also commissioned several newcomers, including Death in Benidorm, a detective drama with a Death in Paradise-style twist, and Imposter, a four-part drama starring Coronation Street's Kym Marsh and Neighbours legend Jackie Woodburne.

Imposter will follow successful hotel owner Helen, a woman who finds herself confronted by the daughter she once gave up for adoption. As Helen gets to know Amanda, however, she quickly suspects that she isn't who she says she is, and before she knows it, a "twisted scheme soon spirals into betrayal and ultimately, murder."

Season two of The Hardacres has yet to receive a release date.
