The Gentlemen season 2 is on its way as the first-look images of Theo James on set have dropped.

Guy Ritchie's Netflix series focuses on the cannabis empire ran by Eddie Horniman (James) and Susie (Kaya Scodelario), with some meddling from Eddie's unreliable older brother Freddie (Daniel Ings).

After the success of the first season – described as "wildly entertaining" in one review on Rotten Tomatoes – the second season is now filming in the UK.

In exclusive pictures obtained by Digital Spy, James is back as Eddie, and it looks like he'll have to sleep with one eye open.

One of the snaps sees a cyclist almost running over the protagonist, while in another image a different man is in for a close encounter with Geoffrey's (Vinnie Jones) baseball bat.

Ahead of its return on Netflix, Ritchie teased the show's "expansion" in the new season.

"This chapter sees a deliberate expansion, both geographically and thematically, as we journey from the English countryside to the Italian lakes," Ritchie said in a statement.

"Eddie and Susie find themselves navigating an increasingly volatile empire as they're besieged on all fronts by an influx of enigmatic new players," he added.

"The stakes are heightened, the power dynamics are more precarious, and I'm thrilled to be collaborating once again with this exceptional cast and crew."

The Gentlemen season 1 is streaming on Netflix now. Season 2 is currently in production and will be released at a later date.
