Stephen Graham has revealed how a second season of Adolescence could be developed, with the star sharing that a follow-up remains a "possibility".
The widely acclaimed Netflix drama focuses on 13-year-old Jamie Miller (Owen Cooper) after he is arrested on suspicion of the murder of his classmate Katie Leonard, with the story encompassing his family and the wider community.
Graham, who portrays Jamie's father Eddie, has regularly fielded questions about a potential follow-up following its release in March, but the actor has indicated the direction the series could go in during an interview with Variety.
"It still is a possibility… If we were to go again, would I like it to go again? With a different story completely? Yes," stated Graham, with the star also explaining why they didn't centre the drama from the perspective of the victim's family.
"If we were a conventional drama, you would look at it from Katie’s perspective and we’d see the aftermath of Katie’s family," he explained. "But I felt like we’d have seen that. We’ve seen that many a time. We haven’t really seen this side."

Graham, who co-wrote the series alongside Jack Thorne, also touched on the record-breaking commercial success of the four-part drama, which topped the streamer's charts in 93 countries.
"It was always made very intently as a little British story, and I think that was the beauty of it," he shared. "We didn’t expect it to transcend the way it did, but we were very true. I think it was because it was made with truth and integrity and respect and a lot of love."

"I think that transcended it. [It was] once in a lifetime. We tapped straight into the zeitgeist. You’ve just had something that’s gone everywhere. I mean, No. 1 in Brazil? No.1 in Saudi Arabia?" added the star, who also served as an executive producer.
Graham's comments echo the sentiments of his wife and fellow executive producer Hannah Walters, who ruled out the potential for a prequel series despite agreeing that there was plenty of "mileage" in the one-shot directing style.
