Coronation Street airs shocking Fern cliffhanger

Fern Lindon has been causing chaos on Coronation Street lately, with the con woman framing Bernie for a crime she committed.

After stealing thousands of pounds worth of jewellery in a heist, Fern performed the perfect crime by pinning the blame on her lookalike, but for how much longer can she keep this game up?

In tonight’s episode (November 14), Bernie began by concocting a plan to lure the criminal closer to her, enlisting the help of Dev and Fern’s ex-husband, Howard.

The trio threw a ‘party’ at the bistro to celebrate a fake lottery win, posting pictures online in an attempt to reel in the “gold-digging witch”.

Despite Dev’s concerns, Bernie was adamant the plan was rock-solid, saying “greed” tampers with one’s brain cells.

After plenty of waiting, Bernie assumed the plan had failed, resigning herself to prison time and making arrangements before she goes behind bars.

When she received a knock at the door, Bernie assumed the police had come for her, but Howard came with news that the trap had caught some bait. Fern had demanded a meeting, face-to-face.

As they converged on the Freshco car park, Bernie hung back at the bus stop before being hooded and bundled into the back of a van by Dan.

Thinking he had captured Fern, Dan eventually realised he abducted the wrong person; looks like it’s not just the police who have trouble differentiating the pair.

As Howard and Fern met, the latter confessed her love for her ex-husband, wanting to give their relationship another chance. Dev, lingering in the background, furiously attempts to contact Bernie to no avail.

As Bernie and Dan reminisced, the latter revealed he'd been on the receiving end of Fern's scam, before they departed in a bid to end the saga once and for all.

As they arrived, Fern couldn't be seen, with Bernie becoming despondent as her last chance at proving her innocence "slipped through her fingers". Will she get another chance at retribution, or has Fern escaped for good?
