Netflix has confirmed the release date for its "dark and sumptuous" adaptation of the classic horror novel Frankenstein.
Directed by Guillermo del Toro and adapted from Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel, the upcoming film stars Oscar Isaac as the egotistical scientist Victor Frankenstein.
Jacob Elordi stars as Frankenstein's monster, while Mia Goth plays Frankenstein's love interest Elizabeth Lavenza.
They are joined on the cast by Felix Kammerer, David Bradley, Lars Mikkelsen, Christian Convery, Charles Dance, and Christoph Waltz.
Horror fans don't have long to wait for the hotly-anticipated film, which is set for release in select cinemas on 17 October, just in time for Halloween.

Per the synopsis, the new film "adapts Mary Shelley’s classic tale of Victor Frankenstein, a brilliant but egotistical scientist who brings a creature to life in a monstrous experiment that ultimately leads to the undoing of both the creator and his tragic creation".
Opening up about playing Victor Frankenstein during a Tudum live event, Isaac described it as "the experience of a lifetime". He added: "The passion, the love, and dedication we’ve all put into this movie is reflected in every frame."

He continued: "This film stands on the shoulders of every creature feature, but it is a dark and sumptuous emotional drama – a character piece sprung from the pages of Mary Shelley’s classic novel."
Meanwhile, Elordi praised the director, saying: "Guillermo is a real-life genius, and I am immensely grateful to be in the film and really proud of the work that we all put into it."
Speaking about her role as Victor’s fiancée Elizabeth, Goth said she "couldn’t wait to dive in" after hearing del Toro was adapting Shelley's classic novel. "I love material like this, and it all started with the book," she added.
Frankenstein is released on Netflix on 7 November 2025. It is also released in select cinemas on 17 October.
