There is just one way to watch the trailer for Christopher Nolan's upcoming big-screen adaptation of a Greek epic.

The Oppenheimer director is set to helm The Odyssey, based on the Greek epic poem attributed to Homer.

Starring Matt Damon, Zendaya, and Tom Holland, The Odyssey tells the story of the King of Ithaca's journey home following the Trojan War.

The first trailer for the film is dropping – but it's not online as you might expect. The first look at Nolan's latest creation is being shown with Jurassic World: Rebirth in select cinemas worldwide.

The latest film in the Jurassic World franchise is released in cinemas tomorrow, and has so far debuted to mixed reviews and a rotten 53% rating.

It is unclear when The Odyssey trailer will be coming to UK cinemas, but it has been classified by the BBFC so it can be shown in cinemas.

In the UK, all feature films, short films, and trailers which are to be shown theatrically must be submitted to the BBFC, unless permission has been granted by the local authority (per BBFC).

The Odyssey will mark a first for cinema in that it will be the first commercial feature to shoot entirely on IMAX film cameras.

IMAX boss Rich Gelfond spoke to an audience at Cannes Film Festival about the feat, saying: "A year before Chris started filming The Odyssey, he called me and said he wanted to make a whole film shot with IMAX cameras. That couldn’t be done for a lot of reasons, there were lots of issues".

He recalled Nolan telling him: "'I’m going to give you a challenge. If you can figure out how to solve these problems, I’m going to make Odyssey 100% film with IMAX cameras,' and we’ve solved his problems.

"So, this will be the first film ever, at least filmed 100%, with IMAX cameras," he continued, adding that Nolan "forced them to rethink how they operated the film side of their business in different ways."

The cast is rounded out by Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron, Lupita Nyong'o, and Robert Pattinson.

The Odyssey is released in the UK on July 17, 2026. A UK release date has not been confirmed
