Tommy Fury has looked back on his secret proposal to Molly-Mae Hague, revealing they had a "blazing row" moments before he popped the question.

In his upcoming memoir, Lightning Can Strike Twice, the boxer reminisces on proposing to his now ex-fiancée and Love Island co-star in Ibiza last year.

On the way to the scenic proposal site, an argument erupted when Molly-Mae grew convinced Tommy was cheating on her, as he tried to keep details of the proposal secret so he could surprise her.

"In the car, Molly asked if she could have a look at the pictures we had taken on my phone. I immediately panicked because if she went on to my camera roll, she would see photos I had just been sent of the setting of our proposal," Tommy wrote (via The Daily Mail).

He came up with an excuse, saying he was in the middle of a texting debate with his dad about a fight contract.

"She thought I might be messaging another girl. I was fuming. I couldn't believe she would think that, but I also reminded myself that I was acting shifty, so it was fair enough," he continued.

"Ten minutes before I was due to propose, we were in the middle of this blazing row."

Tommy had hired the cliff at the back of their hotel for the proposal, and flew singer RuthAnne in to perform Molly-Mae's favourite song, 'The Vow'.

"I just jumped out of the car and shut the door so Molly couldn't follow me. I had to sprint to the scene and get myself into position," he recalled.

"As I legged it, Molly was almost in tears, thinking I had abandoned her."

Meanwhile, Tommy's brother Roman had flown over with Tommy and Molly-Mae's daughter Bambi.

"They were there waiting for me, so I took her from him and made my way to the spot, surrounded by the most amazing flower arrangements, looking out across the ocean," he said.

"I had the ring in my pocket and Bambi in my arms. Molly come round the corner, and then she saw us, the flowers and the ocean view.

"She started to cry tears of joy, I hoped, and I felt very emotional, too.

"I kissed Molly, handed her Bambi and gave a little speech before going down on one knee and opening the ring box."

The couple announced their shock split in August, with Molly-Mae taking to Instagram to share that their relationship had come to an end.

"I am extremely upset to announce that mine and Tommy's relationship has come to an end," she wrote.

"I will forever be grateful for the most important thing to me now and always, my beautiful daughter. Without us there would be no her, she will always be my priority.

"I want to thank you all for the love you have shown us over the last five years," she continued. "You have all been a part of our journey and I feel it's right to share this with you all."

Following the end of the couple's relationship, Tommy strongly denied cheating on Molly-Mae, with his spokesperson saying he was "horrified by the false allegations".

Love Island airs on ITV2 and streams on ITVX.
