Breaking news alerts and WhatsApp notifications were going off on Wednesday (August 14), and it was all because Molly-Mae Hague announced her break-up from her fiancé and the father of her daughter, Tommy Fury, in an Instagram statement.
If you're wondering what all of the internet commotion is about, and need to know what exactly happened and why everyone is talking about it, here's a relationship timeline and breakdown of Molly-Mae and Tommy's split.
One of the OG Love Island couples, Molly-Mae and Tommy Fury met on season five of the dating show, which first aired back in 2019. Prior to going onto the popular ITV2 show, Molly-Mae was an influencer – already with a solid following – and Tommy was a boxer (ICYMI, his brother is Tyson Fury).
Tommy was part of the initial line-up for that summer series, while Molly-Mae made her (now iconic) entrance in an LBD on day four as a bombshell. On her first night on the show, she was told that she would be having two dates – one of which was with Tommy.
The pair seemed to have an instant spark, and Molly-Mae chose Tommy during a re-coupling the following day. Despite the arrival of Maura Higgins, who momentarily showed an interest in the boxer, Tommy decided to stick with Molly-Mae at the next re-coupling, much to the delight of viewers.
Molly-Mae and Tommy's first date in the villa was a horse riding activity, and they seemed to be going from strength to strength.

Casa Amor came along, and Molly-Mae and Tommy remained loyal to each other – having one of the most tear-jerking post-Casa reunions of the show to date, with an unforgettable appearance from Molly-Mae's childhood toy Ellie-Belly.
Soon after, the pair opened up about their feelings for each other and confessed they were "falling" for one another. Tommy asked Molly-Mae to be his girlfriend while they were in the villa, and the couple made it all the way to the Love Island 2019 final.
Molly-Mae and Tommy finished in second place, losing out on the winning spot to Amber Gill and her new villa partner Greg O'Shea.
Later that same year, Molly-Mae revealed that Tommy had moved into her flat and that the pair were planning to find a "bigger and better" place together.
The pair would often feature together on Molly-Mae's YouTube channel, with the reality star and influencer sharing footage from their holidays and life together in Manchester.
Fast-forward to September 2022, and Molly-Mae confirmed that she was pregnant with her and Tommy's first child.
They announced the news in a video on Instagram, which featured a clip from the reality show where they met.
The caption was a quote from their vows on Love Island, which included Molly-Mae telling Tommy: "I can't wait for the adventures that we haven't even dreamed of yet..."
In January 2023, their baby girl was born. Molly-Mae shared the news with a family photo from the hospital, with it later being revealed that they had named their daughter Bambi Fury.
Later that year, in July, Molly-Mae and Tommy got engaged. The boxer had planned a surprise trip to pop the question, under the guise of attending a brand event. Tommy got down on one knee in front of a scenic view next to the water in Ibiza, with a video of the proposal being shared to announce the news with their fans.
The couple became the subject of media speculation towards the end of 2023, after it was reported that Tommy had been spotted partying with Chris Brown during a trip to Dubai (via The Sun). Meanwhile, Molly-Mae was at home with their daughter Bambi.
This was followed by internet rumours that Molly-Mae had been spotted on and off without her engagement ring. In December, she cryptically spoke in an emotional YouTube vlog about how she had been "going through it in more ways than one".
She then went on to address comments during a Q&A portion of a later vlog on her YouTube channel.
"Everyone's asking about weddings. They're also asking about [our] relationship and how things are and I get it, just general questions that people want to know," she said at that time.
"Someone said, 'Is it annoying seeing your relationship questioned all the time?' and I'm sure people would probably expect me to say 'Yeah, I hate it', but honestly what do I expect? My life is in the public eye...
"It kind of sounds bad but you sign up for it in this job. I really don't care what is said about me, Tommy, my relationship... It sounds like a cliché but you do massively grow a thick skin like an elephant. I'm immune to it... it doesn't even resonate to me."
Molly-Mae later added: "Everyone has things they deal with in their relationships or in their own lives, but sometimes it's slightly tricky when things aren't always going to be perfect, and things aren't always going to be sunshine and roses."
In June 2024, Molly-Mae shared a positive update on her relationship with Tommy where she praised him for being an "amazing" dad.
When it came to their wedding, Molly-Mae had shared plans for a "traditional" ceremony, with the pair wishing to get married in a church in the UK.
Two months ago, Molly-Mae uploaded a family vlog to her YouTube which shared a trip for her birthday with both Tommy and Bambi.
More recently, Molly-Mae was a maid of honour for her sister Zoe, where their daughter Bambi also served as a flower girl.
That same weekend (July 7, 2024), Molly-Mae and Tommy celebrated five years together, sharing a family photo from the occasion to mark the milestone.
Molly-Mae captioned her photo post, "A weekend of love… also celebrating half a decade of me and you..."
Tommy shared a similar snap from the wedding, featuring both his then-fiancée and his daughter, writing alongside: "My everything in a photo."
The most recent reference to Tommy on Molly-Mae's Instagram feed came three weeks ago, when she re-posted the video from their proposal and marked that it had been one year since the pair got engaged.
"One year ago today, I was tricked into going on a fake brand trip on which the love of my life would ask me to marry him," she said at that time.
Then, in a statement that came as quite a shock to fans, Molly-Mae announced her split from Tommy on Wednesday, August 14.
"I am extremely upset to announce that mine and Tommy's relationship has come to an end," she said.
"I will forever be grateful for the most important thing to me now and always, my beautiful daughter. Without us there would be no her, she will always be my priority."
Molly-Mae also thanked fans for supporting their relationship over the years, adding: "You have all been a part of our journey and I feel it's right to share this with you all."
Later that day, Tommy followed up with his own separate statement, saying he was "heartbroken" to confirm that they had ended their relationship.
Since those statements, neither Molly-Mae nor Tommy have made any further comments.
