Ángela, the psychological thriller described as "emotionally gripping", is trending in the UK following its debut on Netflix – here's everything you need to know about the Spanish-language series!
The six-part series is based on the 2021 British show Angela Black, with the story following the titular character (played by Verónica Sánchez) as she endures life with her abusive husband, Gonzalo (Daniel Grao).
Ángela's life is turned upside down following a reunion with school friend Edu (Jaime Zatarin), with his arrival igniting past desires. Furthermore, he provides the central character with an offer of escape – will she take it?
Featuring Lucía Jiménez and María Isabel Díaz Lago in supporting roles, the psychological thriller was released on Netflix on Friday (26 September), and it has proved to be a hit in terms of viewership.
At the time of writing, Ángela is currently in the #6 position on Netflix's UK and worldwide TV chart, with it only being beaten by shows such as Wayward, House of Guinness and Alice in Borderland (via FlixPatrol).
