Tom Hardy's new series MobLand has debuted to mixed reviews.

From executive producer and director Guy Ritchie, the show also stars Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Paddy Considine, and Joanne Froggatt.

Hardy leads the show as Harry Da Souza, a man who works as a fixer for a powerful crime family who are fighting a war with a rival clan.

The first episode is available now on Paramount+, with new episodes dropping every week until June 1.

Critics have seen the first two episodes, and the consensus is decidedly split between those who enjoy the performances and Ritchie's style of British crime drama, and those who feel like it's all been seen before without much new to offer.

Here's what a handful of reviews have said:

Variety

"It doesn't appear to possess the scope of Peacock's Day of the Jackal nor the dazzling turmoil of Ritchie's 2024 Netflix show, The Gentlemen. Still, with some compelling revelations, primarily sequestered in the second episode, it will be intriguing to see if the story can take shape – especially as this A-list cast leads the charge."

RogerEbert.com

"Hardy is excellent here, finding the right tone for a man who is often the smartest one in the room but can't let on that he knows that. He's deferential when he needs to be; powerful when it requires a show of force."

FandomWire

"Ritchie infuses the series with his signature style and attitude—like chewing shards of glass—gritty, razor-sharp, and full of roguish charm that's impossible to ignore. It helps when you have a deep bench of actors that create the best cast this year."

The Telegraph

"There's a novelty factor in seeing Brosnan in this milieu, but Helen Mirren as a coke-snorting gangster granny is just ghastly... Hardy makes it all worthwhile but it's the tiresome Ritchie clichés that grate – and they're everywhere."

Irish Independent

"MobLand was written, shot, edited and packaged in a hurry, and you know what? It shows."
