Pierce Brosnan has ruled out the possibility of returning as James Bond.

Amazon MGM Studios has taken creative control of the franchise going forward, with Spider-Man's Amy Pascal and Harry Potter's David Heyman announced just this week as the new producers.

Rumours abound about who will play the next Bond, with the return of popular late '90s/early '00s Bond Brosnan being one of them.

However, on this weekend's episode of The Jonathan Ross Show, Brosnan says that he thinks it's time for someone new.

At first, he plays it coy, stating: "No-one's spoken to me about it. I've heard all of the rumours. Listen, they know where to find me. Let's see where the wind takes us."

However, he soon changes his tune and outright denies that he'll do a David Tennant and return to his most iconic role.

"It's going to be another man's job," he tells the host. "I'm not looking to go there. I'm quite happy with my career. I've done it, it was wonderful. Delightful kind of notion to contemplate."

"[Bond is]with me for life," he continues. "It was great. A magical time in my life.

"It opened a lot of doors and allowed me to go off and form my own company and make my own movies — The Thomas Crown Affair and The Matador — it gave me access to a whole other world as an actor, employment."

Another thing that might factor into his decision is the number of injuries he sustained (and narrowly avoided) during his Bond tenure, something he also goes into in the interview.

The Jonathan Ross Show airs this Saturday at 9.20pm on ITV1 and STV, and streams on ITVX and STV Player. Note that some quotes might not make the final edit.
