Timothée Chalamet has admitted feeling like losing a part of himself as the end of Denis Villeneuve's Dune movie trilogy approaches. After a new trailer for Dune: Part Three was unveiled yesterday, Chalamet, who portrays protagonist Paul Atreides, has described his experience as "the most emotive" in the series.

Appearing at last night's Dune: Part Three trailer launch event, the protagonist reflected on the nostalgia of filming the third and final instalment.

"This is the most emotive [film] on a personal level, not necessarily the character, but I've been living with this for so long. I'm so proud to live with it and so proud to work with Denis and his family, so I felt there was a finality in the exercise that I was kind of nostalgic about," he said.

"Even though I was 29 when we shot this, I still felt like I was losing a part of me by getting through it."

Asked about what was the most emotionally difficult scene to film, Chalamet said that "anything towards the end of the film" had a sense of finality to it and was "just moving".

"I felt melancholic to be moving on from this incredible family, incredible crew," he continued.

"I just couldn't believe how quickly the experience came and went. Maybe because COVID was this weird thing that melted our sense of time. It felt long at times when you think about it to make these three huge movies in six or seven years.

"It's really not that long. I mean that sincerely."

Coming to cinemas in December, Dune: Part Three adapts Frank Herbert's 1969 novel Dune Messiah and reunites Chalamet with the rest of the stacked cast.

Retuning stars include Zendaya as Chani, Florence Pugh as Irulan, Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, Isaach de Bankolé as Farok, Javier Bardem as Stilgar, and Anya Taylor-Joy as Paul's sister Alia Atreides.

New additions to the cast include Robert Pattinson as Scytale, and Jason Momoa's real-life son Nakoa-Wolf Momoa as Leto II Atreides.

Dune: Part Three releases in cinemas on 18 December.
