BBC's Motherland spinoff series, Amandaland, proved to be a hit with viewers when it debuted earlier this year and it’s now officially returning for more hilarious parenting chaos.

The sitcom will be returning to iPlayer and BBC One with a second series after a hugely successful launch averaging 6.4 million viewers to date, according to the latest data from Barb.

The comical show follows the chaotic life of single mum Amanda, who is adjusting to a wide range of lifestyle changes following her divorce.

She’s soon forced to battle the horrors of teenage drinking and fake Instagram accounts as she begins parenting her two kids, Manus and Georgie, solo for the first time ever.

Sharon Horgan, co-founder of production company Merman, said: "With any new show you put out there, your main hope is to make something you love and are proud of. The extra bonus is that it's a critical hit. But to have a loyal audience of this size is just beyond your hopes and expectations.

"The incredible cast and writers, director and production team worked so hard on this show and it's so wonderful to see that hard work pay off.

"Special thanks to Lucy for being the most extraordinary front woman and to the BBC for having such faith in the idea of Amandaland from the off."

Amandaland is available to stream now on BBC iPlayer.
