Jodie Whittaker's new Netflix drama Toxic Town has landed a score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes from six reviews.

Based on a true story, the four-part series follows a group of mothers in the East Midlands town of Corby as they fight for justice after 19 children were born with disabilities following an environmental scandal.

Set in the late '80s and '90s, the series sees Doctor Who star Whittaker take on the role of one of the mothers who was affected by the scandal named Susan McIntyre.

Digital Spy

"While the drama boasts a truly impeccable ensemble cast, with particular standout performances from Aimee Lou Wood and Claudia Jessie, it is Jodie Whittaker's fierce yet vulnerable Susan McIntyre – whose son was born with a painful hand difference – that drives the central narrative."

"Toxic Town makes for a harrowing watch, and the fact that the mothers won £14.6 million in compensation after almost ten years of anxiety, rage, and sorrow is reason enough to watch."

Guardian

"For the people involved this was a life-defining fight that deserves to be celebrated. If Toxic Town turns it into an easy dramatic win, it is forgiven."

Decider

"Toxic Town is an intense but entertaining watch thanks mainly to fine performances by Whitaker and Wood, but also because Thorne paints a compelling picture of a town trying to revive itself while ignoring the dangers that lurk underneath it."
