Stephen Graham has reunited with Boiling Point director Philip Barantini on one-shot Netflix drama Adolescence, which has just released a first-look trailer.

The show kicks off with the arrest of 13-year-old Jamie Miller (Owen Cooper) for the murder of a teenage girl who goes to his school. As Jamie insists he's innocent, his father Eddie sees his whole world crumble as he questions whether his son could really be a murderer.

The trailer for the show, which is coming to Netflix on March 13, opens with the hectic moments of Jamie's arrest in the early hours of what could've been an ordinary day.

His parents Eddie and Manda (Christine Tremarco) are confused and terrified as armed police officers storm inside their house, heading for Jamie's bedroom.

The clip also introduces the detectives investigating the murder, DI Luke Bascombe (Top Boy's Ashley Walters) and DS Misha Frank (Game of Thrones' Faye Marsay), as they're questioning Jamie about his relationship with the victim in the presence of Eddie and the family's lawyer.

The cast is rounded out by Erin Doherty as Briony Ariston, the clinical psychologist assigned to Jamie's case.

In a disturbing crescendo, the trailer ends with Jamie erupting in a fit of rage and yelling in Briony's face as the clip muffles the audio.

Co-created and written by Graham and Jack Thorne, Adolescence touches upon themes of toxic masculinity amongst young boys, with a particularly chilling scene seeing Bascombe's son filling his dad in about the "manosphere" and incel arguments.

The show promises to be gripping not just for its central exploration of boyhood and manhood, but also for the way it's filmed.

Barantini here uses a similar continuous shot technique to the one in Boiling Point, meaning that each one-hour episode will depict events unfolding in real time.

Adolescence will be streaming on Netflix from March 13.
