Sky original drama Temple, which stars Line of Duty's Daniel Mays and The Penguin's Mark Strong, has been added to Netflix today (November 11).

The crime drama, set in London, aired its first episode back in 2019. The series follows a respected surgeon who ends up running an underground – literally – clinic in the tunnels below Temple tube station, in a bid to find a cure for his sick wife.

Temple is based on the Norwegian drama Valkyrien, and was created by Mark O'Rowe (whose TV credits also include Normal People, as one of the BBC show's writers).

Strong and Mays lead the cast as surgeon Daniel Milton and transport employee Lee Simmons, respectively, who band together to set up the medical network. Other members of the Temple cast include Craig Parkinson (Line of Duty), Carice van Houten (Game of Thrones), Wunmi Mosaku and Catherine McCormack.

Temple returned for season two in 2021. At the time of its second outing, Mark Strong reflected on something that stood out to him in the process of working on the show:

What to Read Next

"The thing that I've discovered that I've enjoyed the most is the relationship I've had with Danny Mays' character, Lee," he told Collider in an interview.

"I didn't quite understand how much of a double act they could become, but there is something really enjoyable about watching this odd couple working together. That's been the revelation for me. I discovered it in the first season and it was something that we actively wanted to promote in the second season. I've really enjoyed doing that and playing alongside Danny Mays. His character, Lee, is a great foil for Daniel."

As for whether or not a third season of Temple will be coming, Strong told the publication back in 2021 that he seemed to think it might be possible – although there's not been any recent news on the subject.

"We've written a couple of episodes and have a treatment ready for the third season, should we be lucky enough to get to make it, so we were very conscious that we wanted to have a big cliffhanger, which we do," Strong said of the way the second season ends. "What we chose to do leaves the opportunity for where we go next completely open."

Temple aired on Sky in the UK, and is now available on Netflix.
