Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale star Laura Norton has revealed the cast's real-life tears whilst filming last week's limo crash.

The shocking new plot kicked off on Friday (February 14), when 17 villagers - including Norton's character Kerry Wyatt - headed on a night out. Splitting into two groups, the boys and the girls each travelled in a limo, with both vehicles later suffering a major crash.

The episode ended on a cliffhanger, as viewers were left wondering exactly whose lives hung in the balance. Speaking about the crash, Norton explained how "excited" she was for fans to see the "huge storyline" play out.

"I think the stunts will shock the audience. It was like being on a big film set [and] the way the limo was stuck on an icy lake was pretty epic. We filmed our scenes separately from the boys' limo - so I can't wait to see all their stories unfold when I watch the episodes."

The star described the scenes as "a white-knuckle ride at the top of the week with lots of high energy", before the episodes become "incredibly touching and poignant" as the week progresses.

Norton shared what it was like to work on a "big stunt week", praising the "team work" and "bonding experience" with her co-stars. She revealed an emotional outcome for some characters, resulting in tears within the cast during filming.

"I'm so proud to have been in these episodes although it's bittersweet - as lives are very much in peril and that means some tears have been shed whilst filming.

"The outcome is going to affect so many in the village as well. The aftermath is going to cause huge ripples. I have seen some stunning acting during this block from my fellow actors and I cannot wait for the audience to watch."

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
