Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale star Claire King has spoken about the possible fallout from Kim Tate and Harriet Finch's big cliffhanger.

Kim and Harriet's fates are currently uncertain after they were caught up in a dramatic explosion in Sunday night's hour-long special (October 16).

The ITV soap's 50th anniversary episode saw Harriet suffer a nasty crash on a quad bike while searching for Amelia Spencer during the village's dangerous windstorm.

Kim found Harriet and attempted to get help, but her efforts were thwarted when a lightning bolt hit the damaged vehicle, causing an explosion. Harriet was further injured in the blast, while Kim hit her head on a rock and was knocked unconscious.

Speaking to Digital Spy and other media about what happens next, Claire teased: "If Harriet doesn't pull through, Will's not going to be too happy because they had this bit of an 'I love you' thing going on. Kim does suspect there's something going on between Harriet and Will.

"I think Will could possibly blame Kim for whatever happens to Harriet. But I'd like to say I've just had a lovely time in Spain – so it might be Kim that goes!"

Kim has been taking centre stage throughout the 50th anniversary episodes, which have seen her tie the knot with her partner Will.

The Home Farm boss has appeared on horseback in several scenes – with Claire feeling right at home as she has ridden horses for years.

Claire continued: "The lightning strike was the only stunt I didn't do. A lovely lady named Belinda McGinley did it.

"We also had Andy Butcher, from AB Film Horses, working with the horse – actually making him rear before he ran off and left Kim stranded in the woods with Harriet.

"It was all different sections during filming, then it's obviously put together in the editing suite so we don't know how it all looks until we actually see it.

"I hadn't sat on the horse until the day we started filming, so I had a little tootle around, but you've got to trust the wrangler, which obviously I did. We had a test run and he was absolutely fine. I think it's that thing that if they suspect you're nervous, they get nervous, so it actually worked really well.

"He was just amazing, we had to canter down hills. We tried to replicate the scene from the first episode where a lady is cantering down a field and that's a nice homage to 50 years ago. I was pleased about that."

Claire also had a cheeky answer when asked about her fondest memories of working on Emmerdale.

She laughed: "I think when we were doing two episodes a week! Six a week's killing me.

"In the old days, it was a smaller cast. You can go now without seeing anybody for two years or something, it's just ridiculous. It's got a good work ethic, we do work hard and I'll say it's the best soap. I've worked on a few others and it's the best soap."

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV, and streams on the ITV Hub.
