Emmerdale spoilers follow.
Emmerdale has set up Aaron Dingle's upcoming departure from the village.
The popular character returned this month to make amends with his sister Liv, announcing to his loved ones that he was back for good.
Despite this, viewers know that Aaron's comeback is only temporary. Actor Danny Miller agreed to a short stint to play a role in Emmerdale's 50th anniversary celebrations.
In Sunday's hour-long special (October 16), Aaron dared to hope that his mum Chas had finally ended her affair with Al Chapman.

Earlier this week, Chas was devastated to miss the final moments of her terminally-ill mum Faith because she was away at a hotel with Al. Chas missed several calls from her family because Al had secretly switched her phone to silent.
As the fallout continued, Chas remained angry with Al and blamed him for the fact that she missed out on a last goodbye with Faith.
Al feared that it was finally over between him and Chas, so he vowed to leave the village that day if they couldn't be together.
Later, just as Al was about to drive off for a new life away from the village, Chas stopped him from leaving.

Aaron was disgusted as he watched the secret lovers reconcile, hating the way his mum is betraying her loyal husband Paddy.
Aaron returned home to Mill Cottage in an emotional state, alarming Liv as he drank from a bottle of vodka.
He then announced that he no longer intended to stay in the village beyond Faith's funeral.
Reflecting on his year away, Aaron asked Liv: "Do you know how good it feels to be in a place where nobody knows your name, or your family, or your past? I hate this place.

"As soon as the funeral is done, I'm gone. And never mind all your tears. You've got your family here now with Vinny. Just be happy with that. Because if I stay here, I'll die. Or someone will."
Danny Miller recently spoke about whether he'd be prepared to make a permanent return to the ITV soap in the future.
He told us: "It was just nice to be back for a short stint and see everybody. It's like going to a party every day and just catching up with people all over the place, cast and crew.
"I've got a few things on at the end of the year, a pantomime and stuff, and then I've got a job next year as well, so it's just not the right time at the moment. But I'm not one of those actors that say: 'No, that's it now, I've shelved it'. As I said, it's a massive part of my life, a huge part of my life, and it always will be. There's never a chance of me ever saying I'll never go back."
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV, and streams on the ITV Hub.
