Emmerdale spoilers for tragic storm week (October 17 to 21)

Next week on Emmerdale, lives hang in the balance as a deadly storm hits the village in the show's 50th anniversary episodes.

Amelia goes into labour during the chaos, while Al and Chas's affair could finally be exposed.

1. A tribute to the past

Emmerdale's hour-long 50th anniversary special on Sunday, October 16 opens with a homage to the first ever episode.

Kim is shown riding her horse through the village, as Moira looks out across her farmland and Dawn and Lucas fly a red kite together. Eric, the longest-serving character, is also seen paying a visit to the grave of his late wife Val.

Executive producer Jane Hudson recently explained: "It's interesting because when I watched the hour episode for the first time I thought 'this is like the journey of Emmerdale'.

"We start very purposefully paying homage the very first episode where you see a hand going across the meadow, you see somebody on horseback, you see people in farms, you see the graveyard with Jacob Sugden's grave.

"And then we get into the emotional relationships, the families and progress to a big event, a wedding. And then we get to the crash, bang, wallop stunt, everything's thrown at it, all the technology, it's all there. So it really is kind of Emmerdale's journey in an hour."

2. Kim and Will clash ahead of the wedding

Will informs his best man Billy that it's a make-or-break moment for his relationship with Kim. He admits that there may not be a wedding at all unless they can sort things out with an honest conversation.

As Kim arrives home, an argument kicks off as she accuses her fiancé of still holding a torch for Harriet. Will insists that he's not interested in a reunion with Harriet, but he leaves the ball in Kim's court when it comes to their future.

3. Harriet turns violent with Kim

After hearing Will's side of the story, Kim seeks out Harriet. Kim knows that Harriet has been trying to win back Will for the past few weeks.

In a rare moment of violence, Harriet snaps and grabs Kim by the throat, leaving her stunned.

4. Kim makes a grand entrance

After all the drama in the build-up to the ceremony, things appear to have calmed down as Kim turns up at the church on horseback. Will is relieved that Kim has shown up as planned, while the guests are bowled over by her elegant arrival.

Once the ceremony is over, the guests head back to Home Farm for the reception, but a storm is brewing and concern is sparked over the strength of the wind.

5. Al is rejected by Chas

Chas is frosty towards Al following Faith's death. After Al switched her phone to silent, causing her to miss several calls when Faith was dying, Chas blames him for the fact that she wasn't there when her family needed her the most.

Aaron starts to hope that Chas is finally ready to cut ties with Al. Al soon gives Chas an ultimatum, threatening to leave town if it really is over between them.

6. Samson receives some home truths

Noah and Amelia seem happier than ever as they arrange to spend some time alone together on a picnic date.

Sam watches this and his anger grows over the way Samson has been treating Amelia. He confronts his son, sparking a row.

7. Amelia goes into labour alone

ITV

Amelia heads into the countryside for her picnic date with Noah, but starts to worry when she's blown around by the strong winds. Her concern grows when she starts having contractions.

Amelia phones Dan for help, but her phone dies before she can reveal her exact location. Feeling helpless, Amelia heads for shelter in a nearby barn.

8. Harriet and Kim rush to the rescue

Harriet takes control in the search for Amelia, hopping on board a quad bike to look for her.

Lydia also interrupts Kim and Will's wedding reception at Home Farm, raising the alarm that Amelia is missing and they need help with the search.

Kim decides to step up, heading off on her horse to help. She follows the tyre tracks from Harriet's quad bike and heads into the direction of the woods.

9. Charles and Nicola's feud is reignited during the storm

When Nicola finds herself without any means of transportation to the wedding reception, she reluctantly accepts a lift from Charles despite their recent arguments.

They find an abandoned mini-bus, which was being used to transport the wedding party, and they wonder where everyone has gone.

Nicola fears for Jimmy and heads off to find him. Charles follows, but as the treacherous conditions continue and a tree falls, their tensions flare up again and Nicola has a panic attack.

10. There's a cow stampede

Moira's farm is hit by the storm chaos as one of her barns collapses.

The cows escape and panic in the wind, causing a dangerous stampede.

11. Aaron and Liv try to sort things out

Liv is upset with Aaron for deciding to leave the village again, despite his previous promises to stick around.

Aaron hates their latest tensions and once again fights for a reconciliation, leading to a special family moment for them alongside Mandy and Vinny.

12. Al gives away his true feelings

ITV

Kerry and Chas are both injured by flying debris in the storm. Al witnesses this and is forced to decide who to help first.

Al rushes to aid Chas, leaving Kerry baffled as she's left to help herself. Kerry watches their dynamic from afar and starts to realise that something isn't right.

13. Vinny and Liv get caught in the storm

Word soon reaches the village that Chas has been admitted to hospital. Aaron and Paddy rush off to see Chas, so Vinny and Liv head over to look after Eve at The Woolpack.

The young couple struggle as they're blown around in the violent storm, but they're determined to get to the pub. Will they make it?
