Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street continues Sam Blakeman's mysterious new storyline next week.

The schoolboy had an intriguing moment in Friday night's episode (September 2) as he was seen sending a letter to an unknown person.

On his first day of secondary school, Sam waited for the right moment to secretly put his letter into the postbox on the street.

Sam's friend Hope Stape noticed what was going on and became curious. However, Sam managed to strike a deal with Hope, promising to keep quiet about her Xbox friend if she kept his secret.

What to Read Next

In next week's episodes, Sam tries to befriend Jack Webster and Liam Connor after struggling to fit in with the other boys at school.

Sam pretends that he loves gaming in an attempt to win over Jack and Liam. He doesn't manage to keep the act up for long, as the boys play a football computer game together and Sam brands it "pointless" for supposedly lacking skill or strategy.

Jack and Liam are stunned and when Sam tries his best to make further conversation with them, it's clear that he finds it difficult.

Jack and Liam do try to quiz Sam about the mysterious letters he has been writing, but he keeps tight-lipped.

Sam is quick to change the subject, but is it only a matter of time before someone finds out what he's up to?

Corrie bosses haven't yet confirmed who Sam is contacting or why he's keeping it a secret, but it's a plot that will be explored further in the coming weeks.

Nearly a year ago, Sam took centre stage in a major storyline when his mum Natasha was tragically killed by Harvey Gaskell.

The aftermath saw Sam stop speaking to his family and friends as he struggled to cope with his grief.

Over time, the youngster started talking again, with Hope playing a key role when they started chatting over walkie-talkies.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
