Coronation Street's Sam Blakeman to suffer new setback

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Starting high school is always a daunting process, and Sam Blakeman finds that his plan to fit in has not gone quite how he hoped it would in scenes to air on Coronation Street next week.

Viewers of the ITV soap have already seen that Sam is keeping a secret by contacting someone behind Nick’s back, and now we will see him struggle when his own interests don’t align with his classmates.

While at school, the class is tasked with giving a presentation about things that interest them, and Sam chooses to tell the class all about his love of chess.

At first, Sam thinks it went well, especially when a boy named Owen tells him he wants to learn more about the game.

But when Sam sets a game up for them both at the café, he soon realises that Owen wasn't actually being genuine and he hadn't understood he was being purely sarcastic.

Following some advice from Hope, Sam invites Jack and Liam over to play computer games. While the visitors have fun, Sam admits he doesn't get their enjoyment because he doesn't think gaming requires any thinking, which leaves the boys pretty confused.

While Liam and Jack struggle to understand why he does not enjoying their gaming session, Sam tries again to strike up a conversation with them, but it is obvious he's finding the whole thing challenging.

But, desperate to fit in, Sam decides to make out he loves football just as much as everyone else, and he dons a footy shirt and trainers when attending Jalena's party.

The whole thing backfires though when he speaks to Jalena who tells him that she had planned to ask him if they could play a game of chess together, but now she knows he likes football she decided to ask out John instead.

Will Sam be able to explain to Jalena what's really going on, or has he blown his chance with her for good?
