Stevie is tasked with doing rapid assessments on these patients, though she firmly believes that they are time-wasters who haven’t been poisoned. But things soon take a turn when Rida turns on the tap in resus and black water spurts out.

This is confirmed to be a hospital-wide issue, so Flynn and Siobhan call a critical incident, with operating theatres closed for a deep clean and sterile medical equipment recalled. There is confusion about what has happened to the water supply, but the situation begins to clear up when a man falls off the roof and lands on Iain’s ambulance!

The injured man is revealed to be Rex, a member of the action group who lost his wife to cancer six months ago. As his leg injury is treated by the team, Flynn uncovers that Rex put activated charcoal in the water tanks on the roof to turn the hospital’s supply black.

But when Rex’s wife Ruth turns up, Iain realises her death was just a cover story. He discovers that Rex works for the developer Goldclave and was hired to infiltrate the action group – and to stage a harmful protest to delegitimise their real concerns.

Meanwhile, amid the chaos, Jodie uses her day off to search the hospital archives for historical evidence to use against Goldclave, and Rida lends her a hand during her break.

She rushes to the estate to see grieving Laura, who still blames herself for her baby’s death, to tell her about this discovery. It seems like Jodie’s work pays off, and Laura finally begins to believe this theory.

Will Laura help Jodie to expose Goldclave’s dangerous secrets?
