Casualty’s ED descends into total chaos once again this week, when the team discover that the hospital’s water supply has been contaminated!

As another critical incident is declared, the department struggles to treat patients without clean water. But with Jodie’s investigation into Wyvern Hill Estate ongoing, is this disaster linked to the scandal?

"This is truly the last thing Flynn and the team needs!" begins our Holby insider. "It’s impossible for the hospital to operate as normal, while fears mount about what is really going on. It’s going to be a tricky shift, to say the least…"

With the Wyvern Estate having reopened to residents, Iain is heading up a support group who believe that the area is still unsafe and are planning to take legal action against the developers. But at the latest meeting, Iain was blindsided by rumours of toxins in the water supply.

These rumours lead to widespread panic in the area, and this week Flynn announces that the ED is full of people who believe they have been poisoned by chemicals in the water.

Stevie is instructed to carry out rapid assessments on patients, though she is convinced they are all timewasters. However, later Rida turns on the tap in resus and is horrified when black water spurts out!

"Maybe the rumours are true, and the water really is poisoned!" says our s0urce. "Siobhan and Flynn leap into action straight away and call a critical incident, while sending off a sample of the fluid for testing. It’s a complete nightmare – and to make matters worse, the local press gets word…"

The hospital grinds to a halt, with sterile equipment recalled and operating theatres closed to be deep cleaned. But the ED team soon have an urgent patient to treat, when a man falls from the roof of the building and onto the windshield of Iain’s ambulance!

Stunned Iain realises that the critically injured man is Rex, a member of the Wyvern support group. As Rex is rushed into hospital, Iain is baffled. What was he doing on the roof?

Meanwhile, away from the chaos, Jodie spends her day off work searching the hospital archives for historic evidence to use in the case against developer Goldclave.
