It's been a while since we last saw Cillian Murphy on our screens, but that wait is almost over with the release of his new Netflix movie Steve.
The drama is based on Max Porter's Sunday Times bestseller Shy, and sees Murphy take on the titular role. Steve is a headteacher at a last-chance reform school for teenage boys, and the movie centres on a pivotal day for the school's future.
You can check out the intense trailer for Steve above, ahead of its release in select cinemas on 19 September and on Netflix from 3 October.
The movie also stars Jay Lycurgo as troubled teen Shy, who the book was centred on, alongside the likes of Emily Watson (reuniting with Murphy after Small Things Like These), Tracey Ullman, Roger Allam and Simbi Ajikawo.
Ahead of its Netflix release, Steve will receive its world premiere at next month's Toronto International Film Festival, where festival programmer Jason Ryle praised it as a "powerful adaptation" of Shy.

What to Read Next
"Murphy, in a performance that glows with haunted conviction, anchors a remarkable cast. Jay Lycurgo is extraordinary as Shy, a young man fighting the undertow of his own mind, pulled between despair and the faintest flicker of possibility," he said.
"Steve is a bruised elegy for institutions under siege and a character study shaped by the courage of those who persist within them – a chamber piece of forceful commitment, lost boys, and stubborn acts of hope."
Murphy also produced Steve with Alan Moloney, marking the duo's first official project from their production company Big Things Films.
"Max gave me that book in a proof edition before he finished it, and again it just broke my heart," he said previously. "They're the sorts of things I love as a reader and as a performer, so I really wanted to do something with him."
Steve will be released in select cinemas on 19 September and on Netflix on Friday 3 October.
