Millie Bobby Brown has hit back at criticism around Enola Holmes' historical accuracy, notably one particular aspect that the internet has honed in on. Earlier this year, promo stills for the newly-released third film in the detective series hit the web.
However, fans were quick to notice that Brown's titular character was seen sporting very manicured nails in some of the photos, something some suggested was anachronistic in the Victorian setting of the movie.
Addressing the online chatter, Brown has now told the BBC: "How bleak and boring of the internet. I love a good manicure and so does Enola.

"I wasn't disappointed but I was like, 'Oh, okay, that's what the articles are about'," she continued. "But then again, the internet does not surprise me these days. I've been through it on the internet."
Director Philip Barantini said that he didn't think "small things like that matter", adding: "Maybe they do for some people but it made me laugh. We just live in a world where everyone is hyper-aware and they find something to zone in on, and it becomes a huge thing."

Brown further expressed hope that "in years to come that will change and we can uplift boys and girls".
Enola Holmes 3 follows the character as she prepares for her wedding to Lord Tewkesbury (Louis Partridge), though things get complicated when her older brother Sherlock (Henry Cavill) is kidnapped.
Brown has spoken to Digital Spy about her hopes for the series to continue into further sequels, stating that she will "be there if Netflix is".
"Oh my goodness, yeah, Enola as a mum, that would be crazy," she suggested of potential further life stages that the movies could depict, co-star Partridge adding: "I'll do one in like 50 years or something."
In DS's three-star review of the new movie, we said: "If all you were after from another Enola Holmes movie was Millie Bobby Brown breaking the fourth wall and solving a crime, then Enola Holmes 3 will absolutely still scratch that itch. The mystery might not be as satisfying, but the core ingredients of the series remain as enjoyable as ever."
Enola Holmes 3 is available to watch now on Netflix.
