Millie Bobby Brown's Netflix sequel Enola Holmes 3 has started filming in the United Kingdom.

The third instalment of the Sherlock Holmes-adjacent mystery series is currently shooting at Shepperton Studios, with some filming set for Malta later on in production.

As well as the Stranger Things star, it is expected but currently unconfirmed that Henry Cavill, Helena Bonham Carter and Susan Wokoma will be back.

One change we do know is that Harry Bradbeer, who directed the first two movies, isn't directing this film.

Instead, Philip Barantini has taken over. He's known for intense one-take projects such as Boiling Point and Adolescence, which has been a huge hit for Netflix and generated a lot of discussion recently.

What to Read Next

Not much is known about the plot of Enola Holmes 3, but there are rumours that it is set to be darker than the first two. With Barantini's involvement, that doesn't seem too far-fetched an idea.

We can also guess that the film will follow up on Enola Holmes 2's plot threads of Sharon Duncan-Brewster's Moriarty escaping from prison, and the introduction of Himesh Patel's Dr John Watson.

Last month, while promoting Netflix's The Electric State, Brown revealed that Margot Robbie is her dream co-star.

"I would just love to work with her. She's a pro," she said. "She works alongside men but I can't keep my eyes off of her. That's huge. I'd love to work with her."

Enola Holmes 1 and 2 are available to stream on Netflix now. The third film is in production, but does not currently have a release date.
