Task, the gritty, no-frills crime drama from the creator of Mare of Easttown, has confirmed its release date.
From Brad Ingelsby, the brains behind Kate Winslet's hard-hitting show Mare of Easttown, Task stars Mark Ruffalo in the role of a Philadelphia FBI agent called to lead a new task force.
The trailer for HBO's latest offering, which dropped today, sees Ruffalo's Tom Brandis being called in by boss Kathleen McGinty (Martha Plimpton).
She needs him back in action to help put a stop to a series of armed robberies plaguing the suburbs of Philly. Leading the criminal gang is unsuspecting family man Robbie Prendergrast, played by Ozark's Tom Pelphrey.
Task is set to premiere on HBO in the US on 7 September. In the UK the series will debut on Sky and NOW on 8 September, with all seven episodes dropping weekly.

The cast is as stacked as they come, with Ruffalo joined by Saltburn's Alison Oliver, The Woman King's Thuso Mbedu and House of the Dragon's Fabien Frankel as Lizzie, Aleah and Anthony, respectively.
The trio completes the task force led by Tom, who initially dismisses them due to their young age and relative inexperience.
"It's not exactly a wealth of experience," Tom tells Kathleen in the trailer, but it's clear that whatever demons he's battling while working on the case, he won't be able to do it alone.
The cast is rounded out by Emilia Jones as Maeve, Raúl Castillo as Cliff, Jamie McShane as Perry, and Sam Keeley as Jayson, to name a few.
Speaking about the show earlier this year, Ingelsby shared that his limited series, set in his hometown of Philadelphia, was partly inspired by his uncle, a former priest who left the church for a woman.

"I'm really close to my uncle, so I'm always asking him questions," he told Vanity Fair, explaining how his family connection helped him shape the ex-priest character of Tom.
"Essentially, why did he leave? What's his relationship like with God? How has that changed, evolved over time?" he continued.
"That was a character that I was interested in – a man whose faith is challenged by events in his life. How does he react and respond?"
If Task is anywhere near as good as Ingelsby's limited series Mare of Easttown, which was labelled "exceptional" by Film Cred, then the upcoming show is one you'll want to keep an eye out for.
Task will air on HBO in the US from 7 September. In the UK, the series airs on Sky and NOW from 8 September.
