Foundation, the sci-fi drama starring Jared Harris and Lee Pace, has landed a rare perfect score for its third season.
The Apple TV+ series, based on Isaac Asimov's collection of novels, takes place in a distant galaxy as a band of rebels team up to bring down a despotic empire, though the journey is long and arduous.
Created by David S Goyer and Josh Friedman, Foundation returns to the streamer this Friday (11 July) after an almost two-year absence.
The third season's premiere episode will be followed by a further nine weekly instalments, with its finale due to air on 12 September.
The early reaction to the upcoming season is positive, and it currently boasts an impressive approval rating of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes from seven reviews. This matches the perfect score that was attained by its 2023 predecessor, and dwarfs the 72% score that was set by its debut season (2021).

"The series continues to build a compellingly complex narrative upon a dense lattice of interplanetary politics and brain-tickling concepts," wrote Empire Magazine as they dubbed it a "stunning, sweeping and cerebral space odyssey".
AV Club was similarly positive, calling the series "weighty", "high-stakes" and "oddly captivating". It added: "The story has been streamlined, as new heroes and old friends finally confront a long-teased run-of-the-mill bad guy with simple wants and needs."
io9.COM wrote: "It’s wildly entertaining thanks to its writing, layered world-building and performances." CBR called it "one of the best shows" of the year and a "must-watch" for any fans of the genre.

In addition to Harris and Pace, the cast for Foundation includes Lou Llobell, Leah Harvey, Terrence Mann, Laura Birn and Cassian Bilton, with Troy Kotsur and Alexander Siddig joining the cast as newcomers for the current season.
Foundation season 3 premieres on Apple TV+ on 11 July, with episodes being released weekly.
