If you're not currently watching Widow's Bay then, respectfully, what are you doing? The comedy-horror series is a genre mash-up that's equal-parts hilarious and creepy as hell – and it's currently streaming weekly on Apple TV.
Following the release of the penultimate episode this week, which set up for an unmissable finale, we're excited to share that Widow's Bay won't be stopping there, as it's now been confirmed that the show will be back for a second season.
Sharing the news across its social channels, the streamer put out a clip which saw Matthew Rhys' character passing on a note, announcing that the show had been "renewed for season two". The video caption read: "Mayor Tom Loftis declares Widow's Bay remains totally safe and open to visitors."

While a very welcome update, it's not exactly a surprising one. The phenomenal series has clearly been a hit among viewers, sitting in Apple TV's top 10 chart throughout its run, having first premiered on 29 April. It's also been widely praised by critics, currently sitting with a near-perfect 97% score on Rotten Tomatoes (at time of writing).
Widow's Bay centres on a local mayor, Tom Loftis (played by Rhys), as he struggles to bat away the small town's deep-rooted superstitions and fears, with mythology circling the island's tumultuous history.
What to Read Next
We won't spoil any of the surprises or narrative twists for you here, but as things unfold – and long-buried secrets surface – you'll be as compelled by the show's characters (special mention for Kate O'Flynn's Patricia) as you are in untangling the mysterious background of Widow's Bay itself.
And among the twists and jump scares, there are plenty of chuckles to be had along the way too.
It's fair to say that it has been a strong year for TV drama so far, with a number of touchstone five-star shows breaking through, including Richard Gadd's outstanding Half Man, and Russell T Davies' must-see Tip Toe.
Widow's Bay is absolutely up there as one of the standouts of 2026 – and if you've not yet dipped your toe into the strange goings on of that remote little island, take this as your sign to book a visit. If you dare.
You still have time to catch up on season one ahead of Wednesday's finale – and then we can all wait not-so-patiently for the now-confirmed second season to arrive.
Widow's Bay is streaming on Apple TV+.
