Apple TV has confirmed the release date for Slow Horses season six, with the hit spy thriller sticking to its recent pattern of premiering in September. The new instalment has been adapted from the sixth and seventh novels in Mick Herron's popular book series, and will debut globally on the streaming platform from 16 September.
It's been confirmed that, following the events of season five, Slow Horses' new season will see the dysfunctional Slough House gang on the run as Diana Taverner "embroils them all in a fatally high-stakes game of retaliation and revenge".
Of course, the star-studded cast will be be back – including Oscar winner Sir Gary Oldman, who plays the grumpy leading role of Jackson Lamb. Other fan-favourites also making a return include Jack Lowden, Saskia Reeves, Christopher Chung, Rosalind Eleazar, Joanna Scanlan, and Kristin Scott Thomas.

Doctor Who star Lenny Rush, who also appeared in Daisy May Cooper's comedy-drama series Am I Being Unreasonable?, has joined the cast for season six, although details of his character have not yet been revealed.

The British spy thriller has scooped a number of Emmy and BAFTA wins, and sits with an impressive near-perfect 97% score on Rotten Tomatoes (with a number of individual seasons boasting a perfect 100% score).
In reviews for season four, New York Times wrote: "Slow Horses remains one of the most entertaining and well-put-together shows around", while The Times said the show was "utterly brilliant".
"With this level of output, you'd be forgiven for assuming the quality would vary wildly, and yet Slow Horses has become that most wondrous of things: a truly reliable televisual crowd-pleaser," wrote The Independent.
In a review for season three, Slate said: "Slow Horses continues to stand head and shoulders above its streaming peers when it comes to sharp and truly bingeable TV."
Slow Horses has already been confirmed to be coming back for a seventh season, with Apple TV's creative director for Europe Jay Hunt saying in a statement at the time that the highly-praised series "has won fans all over the world with its unique mix of self-deprecating British humor and high-octane action".
"I'm delighted viewers will have another season to enjoy Gary's magnificent performance as Jackson Lamb alongside the Slow Horses' slightly inept spycraft," Hunt added.
Slow Horses season 6 will premiere on Apple TV from 16 September. Seasons 1–5 are streaming now.
