The Bondsman, the “outlandish” action horror series starring Kevin Bacon, has surged up the UK streaming chart following its release.

The Prime Video show sees the Hollywood legend play Hub Halloran, a murdered bounty hunter who is brought back from the dead by the Devil. Thankful for his resurrection, Hub strives to make the most of life once more.

Things are rarely so simple, however, with Hub soon realising that his second chance at life, finding love and forging a successful country music career comes with a twist of the “demonic” variety.

Following its release on Prime Video earlier this month, gore-hounds have been tucking into the eight-part series with delight, with the show currently at #5 in the streaming service’s UK chart for most popular series.

In addition to being a hit with viewers, The Bondsman has also struck a chord with critics, with the show boasting an impressive approval rating of 84% on Rotten Tomatoes from its first 25 reviews.

Decider

The Bondsman is mostly bloody and silly, but fun performances by Bacon and Grant make the demon-slaying adventures of Hub Halloran very watchable.”

The Times of India

The Bondsman is ridiculous, even outlandish, but it unfolds with such confidence and flair that you can’t help but stay tuned.”

Newsday

The Bondsman is not for everyone. But it knows what it wants to be and has the confidence to see it through.”

“It’s a little too slick, that Amazon sheen smoothing out the rough edges that might’ve given it more character. What the show does have going for it is Kevin Bacon himself, who throws everything he’s got into squeezing some fun out of The Bondsman.”

JoBlo's Movie Network

The Bondsman could easily turn into a long-running series, and I hope it comes back for multiple seasons. I have not had as much pure fun with a horror series in a long time.”

The Bondsman is streaming on Prime Video.
