A Scrubs reboot is reportedly in the works, with original creator Bill Lawrence at the helm.
According to Variety, Lawrence is working on a new iteration of the hit series for ABC.
However, the publication reports that he won’t serve as showrunner should the project get a series order, and no deals have been made at this point.
The original series ran for nine seasons between 2001 and 2010, following a group of doctors, nurses and other hospital staff as they navigated their personal and professional lives at Sacred Heart Hospital.

Series regulars included Zach Braff, Donald Faison, Sarah Chalke, Judy Reyes, John C McGinley, Neil Flynn and Ken Jenkins.

While no cast members are yet attached to the reboot, Braff previously said that the original show's cast would be on board for a revival if Lawrence were leading it.
"We all want to do it in some capacity, whether it's a movie or a limited series or something. It's just that we can't do it without the king of all things Scrubs, Bill Lawrence," he said in 2022.
"If the thing was right, I'm sure there's not a single cast member that wouldn't love to come back together and do it in some form."

Later that same year, Scrubs fans got excited when the cast and Lawrence got together and announced on stage that they were all up for doing a reunion movie or something similar.
However, Lawrence gave a disappointing update in March 2023, stating that work hadn't gotten off the ground to make it happen due to the cast's busy schedules.
"In the greatest way, the cast of that show and the writers are so good that they’re all working," he said at the time, though he did add that a Scrubs reunion is "inevitable".
Could this new reboot be the reunion fans have been waiting for?
