The release date for the fourth season of the beloved talent competition The Piano has been confirmed. The Channel 4 series, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, sees amateur pianists from around the UK perform on public pianos in major UK train stations in a bid to play the grand finale at the Royal Festival Hall.

Season three was won by RAF veteran Diana Newall, who captured the nation's hearts with her original composition 'Dreams', written in memory of her late husband.

It has now been confirmed that the fourth season will begin airing at 9pm on 12 July on Channel 4.

Sharing the news on Instagram with a picture of Claudia and judge Mika in a train station, the caption read: "Music to our ears: The Piano is back.

"Starts Sunday 12th July. 9pm. Channel 4. With Claudia Winkleman, mentor Mika and guest mentors Jon Batiste, Alice Sara Ott, Jools Holland, Jamie Cullum, Hiromi and Tiffany Poon."

The Piano began in 2023, amassing a dedicated fanbase thanks to its feel-good stories and beautiful musical pieces.

It has been described as "charming" and an "utter delight", as well as being hailed "the most uplifting TV talent show ever".

The Piano season four begins at 9pm on 12 July on Channel 4.
