Paramount+ has confirmed the release date for crime drama MobLand season 2, as a new-look teaser and photos of cast members Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren have been released.

The 10-episode season will premiere globally on the streaming service on Friday, 18 September.

Soundtracked by The Prodigy's 'Firestarter', the trailer sees Hardy's character Harry da Souza bundle a hapless young lad into the back of van, while explaining the show's premise.

He works for the Harrigans, a crime family that runs London. Only, they're in the midst of a civil war at the moment, and things are pretty stressful for Harry right now.

All that is intercut with scenes of the Harrigans at their day job: shooting people up and having a lot of fun doing it.

What to Read Next

How long will the fun and games last for, however? As Harry briefly mentions in the teaser, and as the official season 2 synopsis teases, the fractures within the family are set to hit breaking point.

It reads: "The ten-episode second season will see the Harrigans struggle to show a unified front as rising rivals threaten their fractured criminal empire – and Harry Da Souza, their street-smart and formidable 'fixer', must walk a dangerous tightrope when tensions within the family intensify.

"As violence spills into every corner of their lives, loyalties snap, safety proves temporary, and the battle for power leaves no room for mercy."

As well as our three leads, the ensemble cast also features Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Mandeep Dhillon, Jasmine Jobson, Teddie Allen, Emmett J Scanlan, Johnny Flynn, Ophelia Lovibond, Janet McTeer, and Toby Jones.

Former Hollyoaks star Scanlan recently teased that season 2 is set to be "even better" than the first, stating: "If you liked season 1, penned incredibly by Jez Butterworth, then season 2 is season 1 on steroids.

"It is insane, it's bananas. I loved season 1, I loved reading it and getting lost in that world. I think season 2 is even better. The scripts are fantastic."

A third season hasn't been officially announced yet, but if it goes ahead, it looks like Hardy will be involved after a bit of behind-the-scenes drama.

MobLand season 1 can be streamed on Paramount+ now, while season 2 premieres on 18 September.
