The Traitors has broken a record, with the finale for the third season becoming the most viewed episode in the show’s history.
The latest instalment of the BBC reality show concluded on Friday (January 24), with a dramatic endgame seeing Faithfuls Jake Brown and Leanne Quigley splitting the whopping £94,600 prize fund.
With the show continuing to enrapture audiences, the BBC has reported that the finale was watched by an average audience of 7.4 million, making it the most viewed episode in the show’s history.

This represented an increase of 1.6 million from last year’s final, with the figure not including viewers who streamed the episode on BBC iPlayer. Additionally, the final episode of spin-off show The Traitors: Uncloaked, which aired immediately after, drew an impressive 4.8 million viewers.

The podcast, which is hosted by Ed Gamble, saw Claudia Winkleman and the finalists discuss the events of the finale, with Leanne and Jake both addressing the final moment which saw the latter tease his co-star before revealing he was a Faithful.
“You were so mean to do that at the end,” said Leanne, with Jake explaining: “I just thought after all that stress it would be funny.

"I just thought if it was anyone but Leanne I wouldn't have done it, but as soon as I started doing it and I could see how angry she was getting, I thought she's going to come and punch me in a minute."
“It felt like a lifetime,” added Leanne. “I thought when Claudia revealed that we were all Faithfuls at the end, my heart was shattered and then I look at Jake and he's like this [pulling a pleased with himself smile] and I'm like 'I've made the biggest mistake of my life'.”
The Traitors airs on BBC One and streams on BBC iPlayer. Two more series and a celebrity spin-off have already been confirmed.
