The Traitors UK season 4 star Sam Little has revealed that he has lost all of his life savings after falling victim to a scam.

Sam appeared in this year's civilian season of the huge BBC One show, playing as a Faithful but unable to convince his teammates of that, getting banished in episode 8.

In January, the same month the show aired, Sam lost £40,000 to a cryptocurrency investment scam, and hasn't been able to get any of it back.

He explained to BBC News that he had received multiple text messages from what he believed to be his bank, telling him that there had been attempts to log into his account and urging him to call them.

"They didn't ask me for any passwords, they didn't ask me for any verification codes", he said.

"They were somehow able to hack into the web page I would normally interact with. Before I knew it, the phone went dead and everything had gone."

"It feels like your world's just collapsing", he added. "You work solidly for years to build this up, and it's just gone."

Sam stated that he thought he was "savvy" but has learned that scammers can "catch anyone", stating: "It's really scary".

He went to Report Fraud about the incident, and says that there hasn't been an investigation yet.

The BBC contacted the organisation about Sam's case, and received the following statement: "We are in the process of exploring this report by carrying out a manual review. Crypto wallets are a complex area of policing and will take time to resolve."

The Report Fraud website states that "Crypto investment fraud is one of the fastest growing types of fraud in the UK", and because crypto is unregulated in the UK, people can't access the Financial Ombudsman Service or Financial Services Compensation Scheme.

If a person still wishes to invest in crypto, they should check if the firm is listed on the Financial Services Register, as a professional-looking website is not an indicator of authenticity.

If you have received a suspicious text claiming to be from your bank, please go to the bank's app/website via a web search, and do not follow any links or call any numbers in the text.

The Celebrity Traitors season 2 will air later this year on BBC One and iPlayer, while the cast has already been confirmed.
